Winter Sun Apartments, Pamporovo, Bulgaria

Pamporovo is famously known as the pearl of the Bulgarian ski and mountain resorts, providing excellent conditions for winter sports and year round recreation. It is one of the oldest Bulgarian ski resorts, and in the recent years it has developed as a modern place, for spending a fantastic holiday.

The winter sun apartment complex is an exclusive development of 39 dwellings, 11 studios, 27 one bed apartments and 1 two bed apartment.The complex includes a restaurant and a state of the art elevator servicing all floors.Off street parking is available for residents.

Legend has it that Pamporovo was the cradle of the mythical musician “Orpheus”.

Situated in the heart of the Rhodope Mountains, Pamporovo is just 230km from the capital city Sofia and a mere 85km from Bulgaria’s second city Plovdiv. The resort itself is situated at 1,650 metres above sea level and has been purpose built to cater for tourism both during the Ski season and during the summer. The highest point on the mountain is the peak Snejanka at 1,926 metres above sea level. It is from here that most of the ski runs start.

Ready to open its doors in February 2008, WINTER SUN APARTMENTS will be ready for use for the second part of the 2007/2008 ski season.

The building is splendidly located with apartments enjoying stunning views across the Snejanka peak and ski area.The complex is a mere 5 minute walk from the resort centre and 10 minutes from the lift system, combining accessibility with the peace and quiet essential for mountain tourism.

Many unique factors combine to make Pamporovo an ideal place for a ski or snowboarding vacation. Pamporovo is Bulgaria’s sunniest ski resort, there is an average of 120 sunny days throughout the ski season and the average snow cover is between 150-140 cm. Snow remains in Pamporovo for between 150 and 200 days per year and temperatures never fall below -7 degrees C, the average air temperature throughout the ski season is -3 degrees C. The ski area is surrounded by a series of peaks which help maintain the snow cover and also act as a shelter from high winds, there is no risk of avalanche in Pamporovo.

The ski area consists of 34 km of marked pistes serviced by 5 chair-lifts and 13 tow-lifts with a maximum capacity of 8,500 people per hour.

Pamporovo is an excellent resort for beginners, the ski-school is internationally renowned for their high quality instruction. All instructors speak at least two languages and the school is capable of teaching even the most wary novice to ski or snowboard. Pamporovo is excellent for children with the nature of the runs ideally suited for little ones.
